Photo Scavenger Hunt for Adults

Fellowship is hosting a Photo Scavenger Hunt for Adults on Sunday, September 12 from 5:00 until 8:00 pm. A light dinner will be served in the Gathering Area at 5:00. Drawing for teams will follow and the hunt begins. A team photo will be required at each location! Bring your digital camera or cell phone to take photos. For those not having cameras, the address of the locations can be written down. At 7:00 pm, everyone returns to the church for dessert and fellowship. Fantasy Football Returns To Fishers August 22--Sign Up Now!

Fun and fellowship, football style return as Fishers NFL Fantasy Football League kicks off with our draft party August 22 at 7pm. Participation is for teens and up.

This is a free league, but all are invited to consider a $10 donation; 100% of which will go into Fishers Children's Ministry Outreach & Events. We are also asking for a $5 per person donation for food and drinks at the draft party.

Once again, we will use ESPN.com resources to manage our league, and limit all divisions to ten participants to ensure high-quality drafting and season-long fun. NON-FISHERS PARTICIPANTS ARE WELCOME, SO INVITE A FRIEND! We plan to announce at least one game party to be held at Fishers so watch for more details!

Hey Fishers Volleyball fans! We have set the date for our first Volleyball night! We invite you to join us Friday, September 10, at 7pm in the Fishers Life Center (main multi-purpose room).

We will enjoy volleyball and some snacks, and make plans as a group for how and when to go forward with more volleyball. So spread the word! Bring your friends, and be sure to sign-up (Volleyball RSVP here), so we can plan for a great, fun night. (Note: we are initially limiting this to adults 18 and up, but may consider expanding, depending on group input).

Your chance to learn more about God, yourself, and Fishers Of Men is coming soon with our three-week Discovery Class, starting Sunday, September 12 (all sessions 935am-1045am). This class, led by Pastor Jerry McNamara, is the first step toward membership at Fishers, but anyone is welcome to come and learn more! Please register by calling the church office.
These sessions cover the basics of living in a faith relationship with God, the vision, values, and goals of Fishers, and answer your questions.

Farewell BBQ Potluck For The McCoys On July 11

Sean McCoy is completing his vicarage internship, and we want to say thanks and bid farewell to the McCoys with a BBQ Potluck on Sunday, July 11 (also Sean’s final sermon), right after our 11am service.

NextSteps--What We Can Do Together!

Do you know what you get when four men work 60 hours a week, and keep doing that for 100 years? The answer is Noah's ark (see Genesis 5:32-7:6). Four men giving 12,480 hours a year is what God used to give the world a fresh start.

Do you know what you get when 200 adults and teens give an average of only 2 hours a week for a whole year? A church known as Fishers Of Men Lutheran giving 20,800 hours for God to use to bless our world once again.

Our church could give 66% more hours of service than four folks working fulltime! Value that time at, say $20 an hour, and together we could give to our church and community the blessing of $416,000 worth of service!

Isn't it exciting to think of what we could do together? That's the focus of NextSteps, our vision, action plan, and giving emphasis at Fishers Of Men. We hope you will attend one of our NextSteps presentations and watch for a special NextSteps newsletter being mailed out this coming week.

Get excited about the impact we could make together, and prayerfully decide to give your full contribution to the blessing of NextSteps!

It's not about your successes or failures. It's about a God who loves you more than you will ever be able to comprehend.

People have a lot of different views of Christians and Christianity. Unfortunately, not all of those views are positive. There is a lot of anger and resentment out there against Christians. They may like Jesus - but they don't like Christians.

Come hear our message, "THEY Matter to God," on April 18th - invite somebody you know who may feel negatively towards Christians or Christianity. Let's all learn how a true Christian should engage the world and show the true face of Christianity - the face of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Basket Of Hope, a national Christian charity (www.basketofhope.org) is seeking to start a local branch in Houston, and will hold an information meeting at Fishers on Tuesday, April 13 at 7pm.

Basket Of Hope's mission is "to give the hope that comes from Jesus to newly diagnosed children and their families affected by cancer or other serious illnesses, primarily by the delivery of a Basket of Hope filled with inspirational materials to nourish them mentally, emotionally, and spiritually." The Director is Angela Brunette (sister-in-law of Mary Beth McNamara) and she will be presenting at the meeting.
You can learn about assembling, delivering, or raising donations for Baskets Of Hope, as well as the ground work that has already begun at Memorial Hermann-Children's Cancer Center. Lady Fishers Tea & Style Show is coming April 17, and the deadline for purchasing your ticket is this Sunday, April 11.

The Tea & Style Show will be held at 2pm in the Multi-purpose Room (sanctuary) at Fishers, and will a fun afternoon for all. Tickets are $20 with all proceeds raised going to benefit "Children Of Promise," a vital program for abandoned, abused, or neglected children served by Lutheran Social Services.

We are excited to share with you a powerful movie (in what we hope will become a new regular Fishers FilmFest) on Sunday, March 28. The Cross: The Arthur Blessitt Story, will be presented just in time to inspire us all to share our faith. This film is something that children (10 and up), teens and adults will all find amazing and challenging to their faith.

Boy Scouts Contribute to FOM Youth

The recent barbeque fundraiser held by Fishers' Boy Scout troop was a huge success. The troop sold over $12,000 of briskets and ribs with almost half of those sales coming from FOM members. The troop committed to tithe 10% of their profits, which resulted in a contribution from the scouts to FOM of $423.10. This money will be directed to be used by the FOM youth in their mini-mission trip to League City where they will build Homes4Haiti. Thanks Boy Scouts!
